The service

Passport Photo Code prepares photos to the UK digital passport specification and, where processing succeeds, provides a digital image and Photo Code. The service is currently provided free of charge.

Independent service

We are not GOV.UK, HM Passport Office or a government agency, and no endorsement is implied. HM Passport Office alone decides whether a photo and passport application are accepted.

Your responsibilities

You must have the right to upload the image, provide accurate information, use the service lawfully, keep your code secure, and verify that the correct person appears before submitting it. A responsible adult must act for a child.

No acceptance guarantee

Automated checks can miss problems. We do not guarantee that HM Passport Office will accept any photo, code or application. Follow the current official guidance and allow enough time to provide another photo if asked.

Availability

We aim to keep the service available but may suspend, change or withdraw it for maintenance, security, misuse or operational reasons. Photo Codes and files are time-limited because images are deleted in line with our privacy notice.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory rights. Subject to that, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable or for delays and decisions made by HM Passport Office.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law applicable in the part of the United Kingdom where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local UK courts.
